Pan Pacs Masters Games Update

Attention Masters Baseball enthusiasts,

Pan Pacific Masters Games update.

You will most likely now know that Pan Pac Masters Games (PPMG) will not proceed this year due to COVID -19 impacts.  Our advice from Qld Events Management is that they are pushing to put the games on in 2021 and again in 2022, but this is not formally confirmed through the Qld Govt and other stakeholders.

With this uncertainty and given the baseball world is always looking for opportunities to play we are considering the prospect of hosting a standalone baseball event this year.  We propose that the event take place at the same time (week) the Masters games were to be played (7th to 14th November 2020).

We have fielded quite a few requests from around the country to see if the option was possible.  We are aware that many players and teams have registered, booked accommodation etc and sorted out playing uniforms and generally are very keen to play.  To make the event real we need to get some understanding of the overall interest in participating in the proposed baseball only event.  Of course we will not be able to  provide for all the usual Masters games activities that we have been used to  in the past, but we think we can make playing an option and then teams/groups could deal with their own social events.

So as the team managers, can we ask that you seek interest from your players  & teams and advise me accordingly. Also if you know of others who may be interested please pass on our details.  Once we get a positive number of yes responses and we see that the event is viable, we will proceed to put the details together. Please lodge your positive expressions of interest for our standalone baseball event to president@surfersbaseball.com

Clearly, the COVID-Safe  guidelines will need to be followed ( if still in place in November) and we can work through this matter also.  We are am hoping that we can have your responses by the 15th July as this will enable the Surfers club to have the necessary time to prepare for the event. The format of the tournament will be dependent upon team numbers, divisions and makeup of the teams (don’t rule out combining teams).

Happy to  take your calls and receive emails (president@surfersbaseball.com) to answer your questions as you see fit.

Regards,

Tony McPhail
