Following the cancellation of the Pan Pacs Master Games in 2020, it has been announced that the Games are set for a return in November 2021. Dates and details for the 2021 baseball competition are now available at our Pan Pacs Page. Entries will open in early March.
The membership of the Surfers Paradise Baseball club would like to thank and publicly acknowledge the City of Gold Coast for their tremendous support of providing funding to assist with the upgrading of the clubs batting cage facility.
Without the support of the City of GC this project would not have been completed in 2020. The club was heavily impacted by COVID-19 with the cancellation of events and community sport in general during the summer and winter baseball seasons of 2020.
The funding enabled the club to complete the project in readiness for the summer season of 2020-21 and has assisted the members and the baseball community as whole to get back in the swing of things and play the game again. The SPBC batting cage facility is a critical training facility for all male and female baseball enthusiasts from as young as 8 years to the masters of over 60 years.
It is with some sadness and deep regret that the continuation of COVID-19 around Australia has forced us not to proceed with the planned Pan Pac Masters Games optional event in November 2020.
As you know I have fielded quite a few positive responses about staging the event, but as the past months have progressed, so has the impact of the virus and the level of team withdrawal or inability to form teams has increased.
Recent state border closures and the uncertainty of the future for people all around the country has now confirmed that we will not have adequate time to get the event off the ground this year. I believed that a 3 month notice period to all of the baseball community was reasonable, therefore we have made the decision not to proceed now.
I am in regular contact with Qld Events Management and there is still no formal confirmation or otherwise of PPMG being held in 2021 and again in 2022, but I will keep you all informed of developments as they come to hand.
Thank you all for your positive interest in this option, I very much look forward to seeing you at the next opportunity we can host a Masters baseball event.
Clearly, the COVID-19 has beaten us this year.

UPDATE 3/8/20: Wayne Dyer’s funeral will be held at 2pm on Thursday 6th August 2020 at the Allambe Memorial Park, 129 Nerang Broadbeach Road, Nerang in the Parkview Chapel.
Some sad news to announce with the passing of Wayne Dyer earlier this morning after a battle with cancer. The Dyer family have been active members of our club and Wayne in particular, a wonderful contributor to the Gold Coast baseball community. This includes as a past President of the Runaway Bay Dolphins Baseball Club, numerous terms on the Surfers Paradise Baseball committee, an umpire of many games and the inaugural Treasurer of the Gold Coast Baseball Officials Association. Our thoughts are with Wayne’s family Petrece, Brandon and Jenna.

SPBC Committee
Hi everyone,
There has been a press release today that details the cancellation of the 2020 Pan Pacific Masters games due to the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic.
The Queensland Government’s strong approach to addressing the COVID-19 threat which includes anticipated ongoing restrictions on mass gatherings and COVID Safe practices through to November, restricted interstate and international travel, a foreseeable inability to deliver the games renowned entertainment program, negative economic and employment forecasts make the delivery of this year’s event unviable for Events Management Qld and their key stakeholders.
I have been part of these games since inception and with the help of all the team at EMQ we have built these games up to become the biggest and best biennial masters games in the world. I am are very disappointed there will be no Pan Pacific Masters Games this year, but I have been advised that EMQ are starting the work with government and strategic partners, sports, sponsors and stakeholders to evaluate a November 2021 edition.
Let’s hope that they able to confirm the status of this plan in the next few months.
In respect Masters participants who have already registered for the 2020 Pan Pacific Masters Games EMQ will be processing of registration fee refunds in the next few weeks.
The SPBC committee is very keen on investigating the prospect of hosting a Masters baseball event at the same time as the PPMG were proposed in November 2020. More work and discussion to follow on this option. Watch this space everyone.
